  • "U-shaped" bobby pins and normal regular bobby pins

  • Hairspray or gel

  • Hair net to match colour of dancers' hair

  3. Wrap the braid(s) around the ponytail while securing with bobby pins until no braid(s) left.

  4. Wrap the hair-coloured hair net around the bun you formed.

  5. Secure bun with more bobby pins so when the dancer jumps it does not move.

Bun Form Method 1

Need:

  • Larger hair elastic for a ponytail and another for the formation of the bun

  • "U-shaped" bobby pins and normal regular bobby pins

  • Hairspray or gel

  • Hair net to match colour of dancers' hair

  • Bun form that matches (roughly) the colour of the dancers' hair

How:

  1. Make a tight ponytail at the crown of the head and smooth the hair with hair spray or gel.

  2. Pull the hair of the ponytail through the bun form and rest bun form on the head.

  3. Tip the dancer's head forward and wrap all hair over the bun form so no form is left showing.

  4. Use a hair elastic to stretch over the bun form and hair.

  5. Wrap the loose hair around the hair-covered bun form securing with bobby pins.

  6. Put the hair net over the bun.

  7. Spray the head with hairspray.

  8. Secure the bun with more bobby pins so it does not move when the dancer jumps.

Bun Form Method 2

  2. Pull the ponytail hair through the bun form and then pull the bun form to the end up the ponytail (easier to pull up towards the ceiling/sky).

  3. Tuck the ends of the ponytail around the bun form and then roll the bun form to the base of the pony (it doesn't need to be super neat or tidy). Don't make this roll too tight as we do not want the bun too small.

  4. Wrap the hair net around the bun and secure with bobby pins.

  5. Hair spay the head.

"The Twist"

  • Larger hair elastic for a ponytail

  • "U-shaped" bobby pins and normal regular bobby pins

  • Hairspray or gel

  • Hair net to match colour of dancers' hair

How:

  1. Make a tight ponytail at the crown of the head and smooth the hair with hair spray or gel.

  2. Hairspray the hair in the ponytail so there are less strands.

  3. Twist the hair in the ponytail either by making two separate twists or just one.

  4. Wrap the twist(s) around the ponytail while securing with bobby pins.

  5. Hair spray the head.

  6. Place the hair net over the bun and secure with bobby pins.
